Why is my skin unbearably itchy?

my whole body, especially stomach,back of thighs, and butt have insane itching. this just started up about a month ago when we switched fabric softeners in our laundry. we switched back and it went away for a week or so. last night they came back. my laundry has been washed with the normal fabric softener so it can't be that. i do take very hot showers, but my skin isn't dry. i used to have eczema when i was younger, but that now is only on my arm in stress. the cream that worked for that kind of works for my itching, but it doesn't stop it other than for a couple hours. (it is a pH fixer to make my skin less acidic). i'm 16, and this itching is driving me crazy, it's just normally one or two attacks a day, but i scratch myself raw and bloody because of it. i can't go to the doctor's for another 2 weeks because i'm leaving for camp soon and i need an idea of WHAT it is and anything that can help
