How to wash a blouse really white?

I have an old blouse that's made out of really thin material. I'm not sure what material it is but I doubt it can withstand very strong bleaching etc. I tried bleaching it a few times but the colour remained a sickly white-yellow. It's probably because it's old. Is there a way I can restore the fabric back to it's original bluish-white?
