How Important Is Math In Physics...?

Now I filly understand in terms on application it is critical to use math to determine of prejudge outcomes. But in terms only of comprehension and understanding. If in a sense able to memorize an image of the physics. Is it possible to imagine more then just electrons spinning around a nucleus, or water molecules shaking and heating up slamming till there spread out into a form of vapor... not the most basic math was used, yet is it not still physics...?
